Township Trustees
The Trustees are not a law making body. They are responsible to oversee township operations as dictated by the Ohio Revised Code.
Board of Trustees meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Administration Building, 11010 Washington St.

Michael S. Troyan has served Auburn Township for the past 30 years; 20 years as a Trustee and 10 years as a member of the Board of Zoning Appeals and/or Zoning Commission.
As Auburn Volunteer Fire Department liaison, he played an active role in solidifying Auburn’s new fire station. The 2.5 million dollar project was completed ON TIME and ON BUDGET and now provides residents with 24/7 station staffing.
Mike and his wife Jodi have lived in Auburn Township since 1991. They raised 4 daughters, Jennifer, Jessica, Melissa and Allison, that graduated from Kenston High School and are currently loving and enjoying 10 beautiful grandchildren, four of which (Summer, Sydney, Remy & Lili) attended Kenston Schools.
Mike holds a JD from Cleveland- Marshall College of Law and a BS in Technical Education from the University of Akron. He is Vice President of Vitec Inc.

Mr. Cavanagh is a lifelong, fourth generation Auburn resident who graduated from Kenston High School and attended Kent State University. He is married, has three sons, and is enjoying his new role of grandpa to 4 grandkids. P.J. served a four-year term on the Zoning Commission beginning 1991 and followed that with a four-year term as Trustee. P.J. was Vice Chairman of the Farmland Preservation Task Force in 1999.
Mr. Cavanagh resides on and operates a 150-acre farm. His commitment and interest in government is understandable when one finds out that his grandfather was an Auburn Trustee for 12 years and was the originator of Zoning in Auburn, serving as the Zoning Board’s first Chairman.
Mr. Cavanagh’s term expires 12/31/2027.
Daniel J. Matsko has served Auburn Township for the past 44 years; 4 years as the Fiscal Officer Assistant now as Fiscal Officer and 40 years as a member of the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department while serving on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for 20 years.
Dan and his wife Sue moved to Auburn Township in 1982. They have two children, Stephen and Sarah, that graduated from Kenston High School and are currently raising their families here in Bainbridge and Auburn Townships. Dan and Sue are kept busy watching their 6 grandchildren participate in the many activities while attending Kenston Schools.
Dan received a BS in Industrial Administration from General Motors Institute, currently Kettering University. He spent 35 years in the Automotive Industry in various manufacturing and quality managerial roles throughout his career.
Mr. Matsko’s current term expires March 31, 2028.
Because the Fiscal Office does not have regular set hours, Dan is available to meet with you by appointment or answer questions via email.

Auburn Township is governed by a three-member Board of Trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1st. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township Fiscal Officer, who serves a four year term.
